THE TRUCK #24

The Trophy Truck #24 has evolved over the last 3 years into a reliable work horse for Rick and Jeff. Each year we have made changes and refinements to the truck making it more and more a finisher.

Last year proved to be a challenge to Rick and Jeff following a catastrophic fire during lap two of the Fallon 250 that left the truck almost a burned out shell to start over with. Everything within the cab was a loss and anything that could burn within the drive train and motor compartments was gone. And this following finishing our first 300 mile race in Yerington where we finished 2nd in class and 2 overall.

We enlisted Dan and Eric Fodge to completely rewire the truck and we now know what we have is wired correctly.  They did a great job and busted their humps to get it done.  Thanks Dan and Eric.

With the wiring done and new interior, new plumbing and much more it then went to Bob Bunker to have new headers installed that kick to the front of the vehicle and then down the side rails. They are a real eye catcher, Bob and team just did a awesome job. Now there is no hot exhaust near any of the fluids; thus no fire, "knock on wood".

The truck is still powered with a GMC LS7 motor. Through the course of going through several motors and transmissions we have learned the value of finishing. You have to "first finish to finish first". Reliability was the theme for 2009 and we are going to take that same philosophy into 2010. We are however looking into running E85.

Again Jeff Hodsdon will be navigating for Rick this year for most of the races. Be sure to keep your eye on Jeff as he also will be driving 124 from time to time.

It is now small task just to get to each venue with 4 chase trucks, 4 toy haulers, 1 motor home and another flatbed trailer. Some have related it to the "the circus coming to town". I would have to agree!

Rick and Jeff are looking forward to the 2010 season with the expatiation of racing all 7 of the Vorra Series. Not just competing but making the podium each race.

We also are exploring a few other race venues and will keep you posted and they develop.
